Geraldine Orebaugh died peacefully of natural causes on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 10th, 2025. She is survived by her son, Steven Orebaugh (Jennifer) and daughter, Kathleen Orebaugh, both of Pittsburgh, and her granddaughter, Olivia Orebaugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, who died in 1983, and by her brother William Kelsey, and sisters Carolyn Morrison and Christine Mullins.
Geraldine was the oldest child in the family of Helen Kelsey (later Samarco). She was raised in Pittsburgh and graduated from Mt. Nazareth Academy. At the age of 17, she joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a stewardess in the newly-created Military Air Transport Service in the early 1950’s. In the service, she met her husband of 27 years, Gerald. The pair lived all over the world while in the Air Force, including Japan, Spain and several different areas of the United States. After her service, Geraldine worked at a number of retail establishments, and most recently held the position of counter manager for Clinique cosmetics at Kaufmann’s Department Store in West Mifflin, before her retirement in 1998. Bright and inquisitive, she returned to school later in life and earned an Associates Degree. She was beloved by those who knew her, most especially her children and her sole grandchild, Olivia.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas A’ Becket Church for 35 years. We gently commend her spirit to our Father in heaven. Gerry O will live forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donation to the American Cancer Society.
