GAIL (GAWLAS) (GREENWALD) MCCORMLEY
Gail McCormley age 85, of Whitehall Borough in Pittsburgh, formerly of Clairton, died on Friday, January 27, 2012. One of nine children of Frank and Hannah (Smith) Gawlas, she was born Mary Gail Gawlas on January 28, 1926 in Clairton. Gail was a member of the American Legion and Italian Clubs; she was an avid reader, knitter and liked to travel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, of fifty one years, Raymond Greenwald; seven of her siblings, Patricia Potts, Jean (Neddy) Strassen, Roberta Mulvihill, Evelyn Erickson, Regis, Kenneth and Harold Gawlas and one step daughter, Kathleen Miller.
She is survived by her husband of eleven years, Joseph McCormley; three children, Randy (Kathy), Ken and Gary (Kim) Greenwald; two step daughters, Ramsey (John) Zarrella and Mary Brushaber; step son-in-law, Ray Miller; five grandchildren, Timothy (Minh), Melissa, Josh, Chris and Dani; one sister Marjorie (Jack) Bitzer and many nieces & nephews.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 State Route 51 (Large), Jefferson Hills on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM. A Prayer will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 9 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 AM in St. Germaine Catholic Church, Bethel Park.
