FRANCES (CHESLAR) RICHARD
Frances Mary “Fran” Richard, age 84 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. She was born July 11, 1937, in Irwin, Pennsylvania 1 of 3 children of the late Anthony John Cheslar and Josephine Frances (Ginter) Cheslar.
She was a longtime member of St. Thomas A’Becket Catholic Church in Jefferson Hills, now part of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, and participated in various church groups throughout her life. She enjoyed various activities throughout her day – word searches, playing cards, dot-to-dot books, reading, and most of all crocheting. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, for which Fran spent most of her time crocheting “Bubchia Blankets” (aka afghan blankets) for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Richard, Sr., her son, Dr. Mark Richard, and her sister Tootsie Constantine. Fran is survived by 7 children, Elise Herman, John (Diane) Richard, Jr., Paul (Leslie) Richard, Susan (John) Lagnese, Steven (Allyahia) Richard, David (Sarah) Richard, Carol (David) Hintemeyer, and her daughter-in-law Rebecca Richard; 31 grandchildren, Shaina, and Kenneth Herman, John Tyler, and Courtney Richard, Joel, Hayley, and Samantha Richard, Joshua and Zachary Richard, John Gregg, Joseph, Mary, and Benjamin Lagnese, Derek (Stephanie), Nathan, Megan, Lisa, Allison, and Samuel Richard, Jourdan, Jacob, Jared, Rachel, Noah, Hannah, Abigail, Leah, and Jessica Richard, and Hayden, Landen, and Raygen Hintemeyer; 4 great grandchildren, Savannah Lagnese and Teagan, Carmela and Sidney Richard, and her sister Antoinette Geurini.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home, 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com on Thursday, May 19. 2022 from 1 – 3 and 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 10 AM in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas A' Becket Catholic Church. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH) . She will be entombed in the Mausoleum in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery with her husband.
