ETHEL HAVEL

Ethel Havel age 84 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania died Friday, January 11, 2013.  She  was born Ethel Louise Wallace on September 24, 1928 one of nine children.  She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Clairton, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Edward “Barker” Havel, August 18, 2006 and four of her siblings, Jane DiClaudio, Betty Roesch, William Wallace and Bernice Bommer.  Ethel is survived by 2 sons, Michael (Chris) Havel and David (Nancy) Havel; four grandchildren, Christina (Richard) Sobeck, Zachary (Chloe) Havel, Brandon Havel and Sarah Peifer; two great grandchildren, Richard Sobeck III and Dakota Havel; her remaining four siblings, Dorothy Kosko, Marie Eggler, Ruth Davis and Jack Wallace and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM on Monday, January 14, 2013.   Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 10 AM with the Reverend Hal Dangel, of the First United Methodist Church of Clairton, officiating.  Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Ethel was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Hills and a devoted mother and grandmother, simply known as “GRAM.”
