Elizabeth “Betty” DeSalvo, age 77, of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5th, 2025, in Jefferson Hospital, with her devoted husband holding her hand.
Born in Oswego, New York, Betty was the treasured daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude D’Amico and stepmother, Sally D’Amico.
After graduating from nursing school, Betty married the love of her life, her husband Dominick, on July 19th, 1969, in Oswego. Their journey together took them to many places, but they called Pleasant Hills home for decades.
Betty was a vivacious, joyful woman who loved her family and friends fiercely. She was especially proud of her granddaughters, and felt very fortunate to have been able to spend lots of time with them. She made everyone feel welcome, and no one ever left her home hungry.
Her career as a nurse and nurse supervisor allowed her to provide compassionate and comforting care to people in need. After her retirement from nursing, Betty followed her passion for antiques and opened Timeless Treasures Antiques with her husband and son. Betty made lifelong friends in each of her careers, in her church, and in her community. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.
Betty is survived by her loving husband Dom, her beloved son, Marc (Kimberly) DeSalvo, and her cherished granddaughters, Angelina and Gabriella, all of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by her siblings, James (Sandy) D’Amico, David D’Amico, Laurie (Don) Wahrendorf, Gina (Nick) Spilman, Alfred D’Amico, Jr., and Christopher (Mary) D’Amico, all of whom live in upstate New York, and many, many adored nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Carol D’Amico and Ann (Jeff) Poor.
While we are grateful to have had as much time with Betty as we did, we will always wish for a few more moments together.
A Mass celebrating Betty’s life will be held in Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, at 10 am, with a reception to follow. Please check with a family member for the details.
