GAYLE (PIERCE) BLAZEK

Eleanor “Gayle” Blazek, age 88, died on Friday, March 16, 2018 at William Penn Senior Suites in Penn Township, Jeannette, Pennsylvania.  Gayle was formerly of Pleasant Hills Borough and Elizabeth Borough near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She was born on April 4, 1929 in Elizabeth, Eleanor Gayle Pierce, one of six children of Richard Wellington Pierce and Ellen “Nellie” (Aitken) Pierce.

Gayle graduated from Montefiore Nursing School and worked many years at McKeesport Hospital in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.  She also helped her husband, Frank, at his funeral home in Elizabeth, the Frank R. Blazek Funeral Home.  She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 2002 and all her siblings, sisters, Jeanne Lewis and Ruth Forrest and brothers, Robert, Norman and Joseph (who was killed in WW II) Pierce.  Gayle is survived by two children, daughter, Carol (George) Mains of Jeannette and Frank R. (Patty) Blazek, Jr. of Oviedo, Florida; four grandchildren, Brian and Todd Mains, Mark Blazek and Eric Meyers and 12 great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation and her burial was private.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 11:30 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Elizabeth, 411 South 3rd Avenue, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania 15037.
