Dorothy Sylvia (Bacon) Yardas, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & great-great grandmother passed away on October 26, 2012, at the age of 98. She was born October 11, 1914 in North Versailles, PA to the late John & Martha Reskovac Bacon.
Dorothy attended St. Isaac Jogues Roman Catholic Church in Elrama, PA and was a long-time member of the Christian Mothers Altar Rosary Society. She was well-known for her homemade candy which she shared generously with friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Yardas; daughter, Dorothy F. (Cal) Calabrese; son, William J. Yardas; great grandson, Aaron D. Yardas; and grandson, George Kutscher. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ada (Trainer) Yardas of Jefferson Hills/Finleyville, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Dorothy Kutscher of Jefferson Hills, PA, Joanne (Michael) Chanko of Donora, PA, William Dean (Deanna) Yardas of Hartselle, AL, Andrew (Theresa) Yardas of Sheridan, In, Patricia Boccia (John) Zayac of Wanaque, NJ and Jay Calabrese of Monroe, NC. She was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Friends Received Monday, October 29th from 1 – 9 PM in the Stephen D Slater Funeral Home 1701 State Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills. A prayer will be held in the funeral home Tuesday 10:15 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Elrama at 11 AM with Father Tusky officiating. Burial will follow at St. Clare Cemetery in Clairton, PA. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions to St. Isaac Jogues Church, 1216 Collins Ave, Jefferson Hills, PA 15025 in care of the Christian Mothers Altar Rosary Society.
