Doris Scalise

DORIS  H. SCALISE

Doris H. Scalise, age 82, of Mt. Washington, formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio, died peacefully at her son Frank’s home, in Rostraver Township, on Monday, October 28, 2013.  She was born Doris Harrpole Burns on February 17, 1931 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Charles Walter Burns and Lucille (Vandervort) Burns.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ross Scalise on April 10, 2010; a granddaughter, Vickie Brenner and two of her siblings, Ruth Henry and Charles Burns.

Doris is survived by many beloved family members and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.  Survivors include five children, Leonard (Gloria) Collins, Kathleen (Chris) Inklovich, Sharon Wheeler, Joseph (Leslie) Scalise and Frank (Kim) Scalise; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Garrett, Lynette Dennis, Jeremy Pektas, Lisa Harkins, Derek Brenner, Joseph, Taylor and Gary Scalise and Tyler Pirilla; six great grandchildren, Faith Garrett, Donald and Destiny Dennis, Brandon Brenner and Alexis and Dante Scalise and three siblings, Dwight and Harold Burns and Janet Sprague.

Friends will be received from 5 - 9 PM on Wednesday and Noon - 4 PM and 6 - 9 PM on Thursday at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills.  Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 AM with Chaplin Jim Schmitt of Gentiva Hospice officiating.  Entombment, beside her husband, will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh.

Doris leaves forever in the hearts of those who have known and loved her a lasting legacy of love, courage and a will for life that will never be forgotten.
