Delbert Wise, age 91 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania died on Monday, August 8, 2016. He was born Delbert Vincent Wise on June 2, 1925 in Large (now part of Jefferson Hills), Pennsylvania, one of six children of Vincent and Pearl Cathryn (Martin) Wise. He was a steel worker for US Steel at the Irvin Works in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, retiring in the early 1980’s; a member of the American Legion, Post 712 in the Pleasant Hills section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a life time member of the Gill Hall Volunteer Fire Department in Jefferson Hills.
In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Isabel (Heron) Wise and three brothers, Delmar, Glenn and Darl Wise. He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Cole and Dorothy (G. Keith) Richardson both of Jefferson Hills; one son, Ken (Vicki) Wise of Vail, Arizona; four grandchildren, Teresa Heinrich, Kimberly (Erich) Hoberg, George (Carrie) Richardson and Ken (Molly) Wise; eight great-grandchildren, Cody and Haley Hoberg, Matthew, Peyton and Ethan Heinrich, Benjamin and Luke Richardson and Pandora Wise and two sisters, Thelma Harrison of Clairton, Pennsylvania and Della Henderson of Liberty Borough, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Large in Jefferson Hills, on Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 7 – 9 PM and Friday, August 12, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM. On Saturday, August 13, 2016 there will be a prayer in the funeral home at 9:15 AM followed by a procession to the Jefferson United Methodist Church for his funeral service at 10:30 AM with the Reverend Sandra Marsh McClain officiating. Delbert will be buried in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery in Pleasant Hills.
Delbert’s family suggests donations to the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 310 Gill Hall Road or to the Gill Hall Volunteer Fire Department, 1228 Gill Hall Road, both in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025.
