DAVID MIKOLAJ

Dave Mikolaj, age 71 of West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, died Monday, July 3, 2023. He was born David William Mikolaj on November 10, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of four children of Frank Edward Mikolaj and Jacqueline Anne (Hawkins) Mikolaj.

He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School of the West Jefferson Hills School District in 1969 and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Dave owned Vasquez Music in Glassport, Pennsylvania, later moving the store to Clairton, Pennsylvania during the 1980’s. He also worked for Dr. Stoops as an Orthodontal Technician and later CZ Sound in North Versailles, Pennsylvania.

Dave loved baseball and coached at many levels in the West Jefferson Hills community. He was an avid reader, a car enthusiast, loved history and enjoyed time with his grand dogs.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Marlene Anne Mikolaj. He is survived by his three children, sons, Christopher (Christy) Mikolaj, of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania and Nicholas Mikolaj of Houston, Texas and daughter, Melanie (Rick) Mathews of Cranberry, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Sean Saputo, and Lucy Mathews and his two brothers, Mark (Ginny) Mikolaj of West Virginia and George (Joellen) Mikolaj of Ohio.

Family and friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) (www.stephendslater.com) on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 2 – 7 PM. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday evening following the visitation at 7 PM with Pastor Jody Dausey. Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Saturday morning, July 8th at 10 AM for a final viewing and prayer before traveling to Jefferson Memorial Park for his graveside burial.
