DAVID R. BURKE
David Raymond Burke, age 84, of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania passed away early in the morning on Thursday, March 16, 2017. He was born on January 9, 1933 in Jefferson Township (now Jefferson Hills), Pennsylvania, a son of John and Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Burke. Dave was a Korean War Veteran; he faithfully served Christ as the Clerk of Session for 25 years and a longtime food bank worker at the Olivet Presbyterian Church in West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania. While spending his career in home construction and building products, he loved to work with his hands and create beautiful products form wood. He took great enjoyment from his time spent on the golf course as well.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 59 years, Mary (Slonaker) Burke in 2011and many siblings. Dave is survived by four children, three sons, David J. Burke, Paul E. (Terry) Burke and Duane Lee (Patricia Ann) Burke all of Elizabeth Township and one daughter, Beth Ann (Douglas) Parker of Poolsville, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Jeffery D. Burke, Lucas Burke, Gia Love, Michael Edward Burke, Stephanie, Emma, Grace and Faith Parker; one great grandson, Tyler; one sister, Jane Dalton of Jefferson Hills and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2017 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:15 AM on Monday, March 20, 2017 with the Reverend Walt Pietschmann officiating. His burial with Military Honors will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania at 1 PM.
