Charles "Chick" Yaksick

CHARLES A. “CHICK” YAKSICK

Chick Yaksick age 93 of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017.  He was born Charles Anthony Yaksick on June 1, 1923 in Clairton, Pennsylvania, where he grew up one of eleven children of Blaise and Mary (Sut) Yaksick.  Chick graduated from Clairton High School in 1941 and then served in the U. S. Army during World War II.  He graduated from Duquesne University on the GI Bill and became an Administrative Assistant for Westinghouse; He was a Past Commander of American Legion Post 75 in Clairton and a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Elizabeth Township.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings, three brothers and 7 sisters.  Chick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathleen (Ruffing) Yaksick; three children, Eileen (Art) Elliott, Marjorie Yaksick and James Yaksick; one grandson, Arthur “AJ” (Kristin) Elliott, IV and one great grandson Arthur “Jay” Elliott, V.

Friends will be received in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM. On Friday, April 21, 2017 there will be a prayer in the funeral home at 9 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Michael Catholic Church, 101 McLeay Drive, Elizabeth, Pennsylvania 15037.  Father Thomas Wagner will celebrate the Mass.  Chick will be entombed in Mt. Vernon Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
