BETTY JEAN (WISE) CHRISTOFEL
Betty Jean Christofel, age 95 of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, November 20, 2021, in Redstone Highlands Senior Living in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. Betty Jean was born on May 22, 1926, in Clairton, Pennsylvania, one of two children of William Russell Wise and Mary Gladys (Gordon) Wise.
She graduated from Clairton High School in 1942 and graduated business college in Pittsburgh in 1944. Upon graduation she worked for Gulf Oil Corporation in Pittsburgh for 12 years and the West Jefferson Hills School District as an Administrative Assistant for 25 years. Following her retirement, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 25 years. Betty Jean was a member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania for 81 years where she sang in the choir for 40 + years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved playing her piano at home and for church events.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Karl Rockensus Christofel and her brother, J. Robert “Bob” Wise. Betty Jean is survived by two children, sons, William K, (Wendy) Christofel of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and David A. (Janet) Christofel of Wake Forest, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Justin (Kim), Mark (Leah) and Corey (Leah) Christofel and Lindsey (Jeffrey) Kelly, David II and Courtney Christofel; three great grandchildren, Jaxson, Madeleine and Arya and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received for her visitation and funeral service on Saturday, November 27, 2021, in the Lebanon Presbyterian Church 2800 Old Elizabeth Road, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania 15122. Visitation will be in the church parlor from 11 am until the time of her service at 12:30 pm in the church Sanctuary. Betty Jean will be buried in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery next to her husband Karl.
