BERNADETTE  HILLYARD

Bernadette V. Hillyard age 91 of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Mt. Vernon of South Park nursing home, in South Park, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.  She was born Catherine Victoria Thompson a daughter of Margaret (Ward) Thompson on August 10, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She was a graduate of Oakland Catholic High School, Class of 1943 and a member of the Thompson Run AARP #3172 and their bowling league.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P. Hillyard (dod: September 3, 1990). She is survived by her two sons, Kevin P. (Sue) Hillyard of Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania and Patrick G. (Carolyn Klingensmith) Hillyard of West Mifflin; two grandchildren, Michael P. (Nastasha) Hillyard of Jefferson Hills and Katelyn M. (Brian) Bronder of Baldwin, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a great grandson, Brady P. Hillyard; and her brother, John (Carolyn) Buckley of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania.

Friends will be received on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 6:30 – 9 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home.  A Prayer will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 12 noon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 PM in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in West Mifflin.

Bernadette’s family wishes to thank the staff at Mt. Vernon of South Park and ViaQuest Hospice for their care of their mother.
