ANNETTA  PORTER  GRAHAM

Annetta Porter Graham, 78, of Frostproof, Florida passed away on May 16, 2015 at her residence.  She was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania to George O. Porter Sr. and Olive (Horner) Porter, was raised in Munhall, Pennsylvani, moved to Frewsburg, New York after her marriage, and resided in Frostproof since 1979.  She was the church organist for Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania and for First United Methodist Church of Frostproof and music director at Frostproof Presbyterian Church, covering over 50 years.  She served as wedding organist at St. George Greek Orthodox in th Oakland section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was the accompanist for US Steel-Homestead Works-Male Chorus.  She was a clerk at Homestead Works-US Steel-Metallurgical Department for 21 years, and a Florida Independent Licensed Insurance Agent and Notary for 23 years. She was a piano/organ teacher to many children and adults.

Annetta was a member of Frostproof United Methodist Church and Past President of the Lake Wales, Florida Music Club where she organized and directed the Crystal Belles, a group that used crystal glasses as their instruments.  She belonged to Circle III at the Frostproof Presbyterian Church, Circle Mary at Frostproof’s Methodist church, was a life member of Military Officers Association of America, Lake Wales Music Club and Frostproof Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lcdr. George D. Graham; her parents; stepmother, Edna Porter and stepbrother, Jim Miller.  She is survived by a stepdaughter, Darlene (Larry) Lupton of San Angelo, Texas; two grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one brother, George O. (Betty) Porter, Jr. of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; a nephew and niece and her two children.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of  Frostproof, Florida;  Lebanon Presbyterian Church, West Mifflin, Pennsylvania 15122;  Lake Wales Music Club, Inc., Lake Wales, Florida;  Frostproof Historical Society, Inc., in Frostproof;  or Good Shepherd Hospice – Orchid Group, Sebring, Florida.

A Memorial service was held at Frostproof’s Methodist Church on May 20.  The Burial service will be at 10:30 AM on May 23 in the Mausoleum at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, P A 15236.

Arrangements were handled by Johnson-Nelson-Gill Funeral Home in Lake Wales, Florida and Stephen Slater Funeral Home in Jefferson Hills (Large), Pennsylvania.
