Shirley "Shirl" Soncini, age 80 of the Floreffe area in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at her home. She was born in the Gill Hall area of Jefferson Borough (now Jefferson Hills) on June 7, 1937, the youngest of fifteen children of Henry and Julia (Ballas) Bendel. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Floreffe Volunteer Fire Company and a long-time member, Elder and Food Bank worker at the Olivet Presbyterian Church in West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by thirteen of her siblings, brothers, Joseph, Calvin, Henry, David Royce, George, John Elmer, William, Richard and Donald Bendel and sisters, Henrietta Petrovich, Leona Hunter, Mary Rambo and May Ottey. Shirl is survived by her husband, Jack Soncini; two children, Lisa Soncini of Jefferson Hills and Jack (Tammy) Soncini of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Cody (Briana) Soncini and Aaron “AJ” Soncini; four great grandchildren, Skylar, Alayiah, Kaelyn and Kenny and her one remaining sibling, sister, Margaret “Peg” Clark of Jefferson Hills.
Friends will be received on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51 (Large) Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, where her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 10 AM with Reverend Walt Pietschmann of the Olivet Presbyterian Church officiating. Shirl’s burial will follow in West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Pennsylvania.
